»Trisha’s Deepavali day!
Posted 25 Oct 2008 by Reena 0 Comments
The shooting of Nagarjuna’s King is going great guns in Hyderabad. This is the first time Trisha is acting with Nag. Directed by Srinu Vaitla, the movie has been scripted with the Yuvasamrat in mind.

The shooting is going on so briskly that the entire unit will be hard at work on Monday, Diwali day, in Bangalore, while the rest of South Indian filmdom will be feasting on sweets and bursting firecrackers to their hearts’ content.

Trisha, whose Tamil release Abhiyum Naanum from Prakashraj’s production house Duet Movies is almost ready for release, is also busy with Sarvam directed by Vishnuvardhan, and Chennaiyil Oru Mazhaikalam by Gautham Menon. Her recent portfolio of movies has undergone quite a change from the usual masala entertainers; she has started to choose movies that are as much entertainer as food for thought. Her roles in these movies have a realistic touch and are rooted in everyday life, according to Trisha.

On her experience with Abhiyum Naanum, Trisha said, “A different film, it talks about the bond between father and daughter. I have worked with Prakashraj in several movies and we share a good rapport on screen. Radha Mohan’s endeavour is an engrossing tale, far away from commercial cinema.”

On her other films, she says, “Vishnuvardhan and his team of sophisticated technicians are working round-the-clock for Sarvam. Working in Chennaiyil Oru Maazhaikalam under Goutham is a great learning experience.”

But any questions on her role in Kamal Haasan’s Marmayogi, brings no responses except to say that it isn’t appropriate for her to talk about it.

Radha Mohan's Abhiyum Naanum, with Prakashraj and Trisha in the title roles, is progressing day in and day out. The movie's audio is slated to be out on September 27 in an event in Chennai. Sources point out that Chief Minister Karunanidhi and his daughter and Rajyasabha MP Kanimozhi have agreed to preside over the audio release. Location details are not finalized yet and will be out soon with an official announcement. Abhiyum Naanum is scored by Vidya Sagar and narrates a daughter – father relationship portrayed by Trisha and Prakashraj. Radha Mohan touched upon on the love life of a speech/hearing impaired girl with his Mozhi that won him critical acclaim.

» Trisha to sing for A.R. Rahman
Posted 23 Aug 2008 by Reena 0 Comments
Petite beauty Trisha is ruling the roost in Tollywood and Kollywood simultaneously with a number of projects lined up to keep her busy. Yet another facet of Trisha, other than acting, is to be brought to the fore with the actress ready to test her vocal skills.Trisha, in a recent interview, has disclosed that she would lend her voice soon for a song set to tune by ace music director A.R. Rahman. The film is Abhiyum Naanum, wherein she plays the lead role too. The actress states that she is a natural singer but has always been shy to exhibit her talent. Trisha is naturally thrilled to debut as singer under the direction of award-winning music director A.R. Rahman.

» Will Trisha say yes to Bharath?
Posted 01 Aug 2008 by Reena 0 Comments
Karu Palaniappan would wear his director’s mantle - after the widely acclaimed Pirivom Sandhippom - for the Tamil remake version of Jab We Met. Palani has carved a niche in the industry in less than three movies with his neat scripts and uncomplicated direction. For the same reason, it comes as a surprise to many that Palani has opted to direct a remake movie.

As informed by us earlier, Bharath will play the lead in this Moserbaer production. Since Tamanna is reportedly busy and could not allot slots for the movie, the producers are going back to prod Trisha for her dates, who incidentally had pulled out from the venture earlier.

»Trisha: 'No modelling please…'
Posted 12 Jul 2008 by Reena 0 Comments
It has been seven years now that Chennai beauty Trisha bid adieu to modelling after her foray into the tinsel town. However, the gorgeous lady was seen walking the ramp recently (for her friend’s sake), but with great difficulty. Asked why, the actress said, while heaving a sigh of relief: “It’s easy to act rather than walk the ramp. Moreover, it’s been years that I did modelling.” And, who wants to be a bundle of nerves for a meagre amount!

»Trisha at Sidney SS Fashion show
Posted 29 Jun 2008 by Reena 0 Comments
Chennai city is slowly but steadily waking up to fashion. This was witnessed at the Taj Ball room in Chennai in a new line in the realm of couture. Trisha, the top south Indian actress walked the ramp at the Chennai based designer Sidney S S- Spring Summer 2008- “All the World’s a Stage”.

Chic, Stylish and luxurious with a dash of fun… Well, that’s Sidney S Sladen for you!

The who’s who of the society proudly sports a Sidney Sladen outfit and it is with style and élan that the city’s party-hoppers wear and carry his tag! Sidney’s first label, not surprisingly, was labeled Sidney Sladen. A couture range, this comprised of royal and regal bridal and evening wear.

Mervida, an Indo-Western collection, was conceptualized in 2000 and catered to the sensibilities of the hip and the happening! But as a creator of fashion, Sidney believed in reaching out to one and all!

Maturity, a line targeted essentially at older women and those who wore plus sizes, was the result of this underlying philosophy. Next in line was Zundarr, an abstract range that aimed at transforming and revolutionizing the masculine image.

Essentially comprising of embroidered kurta sets and classic shirts, this range was a particular hit with the fast emerging metrosexual! Sidney’s latest collection, that the designer put together early this year, was S3-pret.

Young, vibrant, colorful and energetic, S3, as a prêt line, continues to woo the young and the trendy who like to dress in style and comfort. Even while creating fashion lines for the city’s crème de la crème, Sidney has managed to carve a niche for himself in the world of Tamil cinema that is increasingly becoming fashion conscious.

Sidney has dressed Chennai’s younger stars from Trisha, Shriya, Namitha, Sneha, Jeyam Ravi, Simbu and others! Other projects in Sidney’s fashion kitty include his creations for the Little Theatre, one of South India’s acclaimed theatre groups.

Lycra, georgettes, chiffons, crepes and polyester blends, you can find them all… But you can’t miss the subtle embellishments that permeate every creation… In that sense, Sidney’s designs and creations are a true reflection of a trendy, psychedelic urban culture.

If you’re in a mood to sport a designer wear that spells luxury with oodles of attitude, Sidney S Sladen is your design destination! The Collection this season was inspired by his recent trip to London more specifically England.

After reading the Novel “The Other Boleyn Girl” , Sidney was fascinated with the ruling period of Henry VIII, especially their description of a spring -summer carnival. The abundance of colours, fabric drapes, extravagance and splendor. The use of fabrics and colors together form the basic the backdrop of the collection.

Sidney debut venture in Kollywood was for Mani Ratnam produced film – ‘Five Star’. But that’s not all! Sidney’s creations literally traveled to the masses when he designed garments for the ‘Superstar’ of Tamil cinema – Rajnikanth - for his blockbuster Chandramukhi.

The success of ‘Chandramukhi’ and Rajnikanth’s outfits are topics of conversation, even today. He then went on to design the costumes for a Hollywood movie named ‘Maya’.

All garments were embellished with traditional Indian work but with the influence of the English court. Gems and Victorian stones, Shells, pearls and various semi precious stones form the highlight of the collection. There would also be an influence of masquerade masks which were a source of entertaining secrecy at that period of time.

Trisha`s mom Uma Krishnan was seen enjoying the evening with her friends. She was busy clicking pics and was seen tensed when Trisha walked as the show stopper at the end of the show.

Says Sidney: “We have always seen to it that all previous collection has been inspired by the heart, we can assure you that this collection is something that has never been seen before more so especially because I have made it extremely personal.”

Sidney has also consistently and stylishly dressing and draping a bevy of models for a range of national and international fashion pageants.

Said Sidney: “I am happy and pleased to release my Spring -Summer 2008 line apt fully titled “All the world`s a stage”. The show had series of garments based on a particular color flow. Fabrics involved chiffon, Georgette, silks, crepes, organza, French lace, brocade and Benares.

His brand of couture has traveled to many an international destination, thanks to the many leading models that have put this city on the international map of fashion. Simran incidentally is the gorgeous and ravishing brand ambassador of Sidney’s creations!

At Sidney S Sladen, (39 Chamiers Road, 2nd Lane Chennai 18), you can shop for a range of garments – evening gowns embellished with embroidery and sequins as well as Indo-Western kurtas, trousers and skirts that boast of a classic style with comfort.
